The Beauty of EID Celebration!

EID MUBARAK!

Awaiting for so long, finally, EID celebration is here. Or should I sing “Dekho Chand aya, chand nazar aya”

EID, a festival so beautiful and full of sweetness, having a ‘pak’ aura around the world. Eid, which is also known as Eid-al-Fitr or Eid-ul-Fitr, is a religious festival of Muslims spread all over the world.

This auspicious festival is celebrated with utmost enthusiasm and happiness. Especially, among children, as they wait for their Eidi!!!

But do you know what the significance of the Eid celebration is and the History behind it?

Eid-al-Fitr (Eid) is also termed as the “festival of breaking the fast”. Considering the Islamic calendar, Eid is celebrated at the end of Ramadan/Ramzaan (A holy month – with regular fasts from dawn to sunset) and the beginning of Shawwal Month.

Eid celebration was originated by Islamic Prophet Muhammad. It is believed that after Prophet Muhammad migrated from Mecca to Medina this festival was initiated, as narrated by Prophet’s companion Anas bin Malik. It was first celebrated in 624 CE.

Eid signifies a festival for discipline, charity and being thankful to Allah for always being a guide during Ramadan. This day is considered as a Holy day with all those good thoughts and deeds.

Eid: A date – Uncertain

As Eid celebration is followed by the Islamic calendar and is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal Month, it is uncertain concerning the modern calendar. It is calculated by religious authorities based on the location of the Moon.

And so this year Eid is being celebrated on 13th-14th May 2021, based on the geographical location.

Eid: A holy celebration

As Eid signified as a disciplined festival, on this day People (Muslims) wake up before the sun rises, with their tradition of cleaning themselves and wearing new clothes and offer their prayers to God. Usually, the prayers are performed in a congregation (Jammat) in an open field or large hall, while saying Takbir “Allahu Akbar” (means – God is the greatest).

After that, they do charity. The charity to unprivileged people is an important part, and they termed this contribution as charity “Zakat-al-Fitr”.

And now it’s time for what as a child we all crave for, not just the Muslims, even people like us, their friends. Yes, it’s Eidi time along with tasty food, gifts, family gatherings, cousins, etc.

Their cuisines like Sevaiyyan, Biryani, Seekh kabab, Korma, etc. (mouth-watering? yes), are prepared and it’s more like a feast, a tasty one.

Eid celebrations are also a day for family gatherings and enjoying with cousins, and this enlightens us with happiness.

On this occasion, people gather to celebrate and wish each other “Eid-Mubarak” which means “Have a Blessed Feast/Festival”.

Eid 2021:

As we are aware of the current scenario – Pandemic due to Covid, so it’s not possible for people to gather as a crowd and even we are not able to meet our loved ones. This does make people sad, as they were not able to celebrate in the same manner.

But as quoted, even if the family is far away they stay together- forever. This shall pass on!

Devoting yourself for a full month to Allah in Ramadan, fasting and doing “namaaz” 3-5 times a day, is in itself is a soothing feel, when you attach yourself with God.

Eid is one of those auspicious festivals, which not just calms your mind but also generates an aura of positive beautiful vibes.

This festival serves as an occasion for Muslims to be grateful for what they have and what they can serve to the ones in need.

With this, I wish that this day may bring peace, happiness and charity to you all.
