Entertainment Sources: A Medium of Earning in 21st Century.

Introduction

Entertainment, in layman’s language, can be said as a medium to grab attention of audiences and give the full pleasure and fun. Entertainment Sources can be a task or a show, but is more likely to be an audience’s attention grabbing method developed for many years.

Literally, entertainment means to get engage in something of your interest and have fun out of it. The music, dance and dramas of festivals also allows the audience to entertain and get fun with knowledge as well. Some entertainment sources might be of knowledge based, some for fun, some of serious notes etc.

Entertainment and Ages

Entertainment is in existence since the age of kings and emperors who used to bring entertainers to their royal courts for pleasure and delight. That time, it was considered as an honour to have them in their courts. Entertainment is of different types, from dancing, singing to storytelling and nataks. The ancient communication skills were so enhanced that they engraved their way of entertainments in stones and caves by which it can be passed on to us safely. Till now the old stories are told in order to have an entertaining environment like of Mahabharata and Ramanaya etc.

Many entertainment sources including storytelling, music and dance have been entertaining sources since ages but have now been cultural representation and personal professions of people. Changes to what was entertainment called earlier is also much important to save history and it’s honour. Killing of animals by Romans were considered as entertainment and with time it became as a source of trade, but now it’s considered as a crime with huge penalties.

Technological Advancements

With the time and technology advancement, entertainment is sold and bought. Nowadays, entertainment is recorded and is being sold to earn money and profits.

Entertainment Sources are not always associated with laughter and fun, sometimes it do belongs to serious accounts like of ceremonies, weddings, religious celebrations etc. What an entertainment is for one or group may be something bad for others.

The introduction of Television brought a new era of entertainment where people can easily, without going anywhere, can entertain themselves with music, dance, stories, theatres etc. in it. Before, people were used to wait for fairs and special occasions where entertainers used to entertain with all their stuffs and mediums. Television also increased the cost of entertainment and made it source of business (buy and entertain).

Forms of Entertainment

Entertainment Sources can be considered of different forms:

1. Music is known as one of the best way of entertainment sources as it includes stories and memories as well. Music, Instruments, concerts, orchestras etc. are best way to entertain ourselves.
2. Reading books and writing is also one of the way to entertain. Comics, novels, biographies builds an interest in readers and they assume the characters to be themselves. They are also one of the best entertainment sources.
3. Writing poems and stories is also seen as good entertainment sources as it comes from inner feelings of the writer.
4. Games, comedies, storytelling, theatres etc. are also entertainment sources. They were actually very famous in ancient and medieval historic India. The ancient emperors used these as show to their pride and power.
5. We are very much familiar with Anarkali, from the courts of Abul Fath Jalal-ud-din Muhammad Akbar, who was known for her music and dance.

Entertainment Sources and Industries

Nowadays, when technology has been advanced to its top most level, entertainment is nothing but a piece of business and money making. According to Times Network, U.S is considered to be having the biggest network of entertainment.

We have India as well in top 10 list of biggest countries with entertainment sources. In India only, we have almost 500+ different channels on our T.V’s and more than 1000 source of entertainment. So, technology also plays a vital role in enhancing the entertainment industry. By 20th Century, it was possible to hear, see and participate in all the entertainment forms through the growth and development of electronic media. Cassettes, tapes and radios were covering an immense population as it was only the medium to entertainment.

Conclusion

Entertainment Sources are not just a medium of attractions and fun, nowadays it’s also called as a medium of business. Entertainment Industries have been rooted in every field from acting- dramas to writing. It’s mode of earning livelihoods for many people.
